For those that can relate to the rugged mountain top locations and the 'hairy' conditions that a technician needs to travel in Helicopter to these remote sites, here are a few shots of the sites visited by myself. The site names on the left are pictures sent in by tuWolf Dealers. Select a name and see their repeater sites!
Kemano, B.C. Canada (Northern BC) 4700' Level Conditions: Very deep snow and high winds. The Sinclair 210C4 was sheered off the stand. They wondered why their VHF was off the air!!
Port Hardy site at the North end of Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada. About 3000 feet. Government site. Looks nice and neat, hey?
Longsworth, B.C. Canada (Near Prince George, B.C.) B.C. Forestry Site. Conditions ... lots of snow and cold!!
Penniworth, Southern B.C. Canada ... Height 5,000 Feet Conditions: Great in the summer. This shot was taken at the end of summer and you will notice that there is still snow on the mountain! This is a coastal site, so in all likelihood, there would be lots of snow. You will notice that the Comm Shell is located on the windward side of the ridge. This insures that the snow does not collect and cover in the site.
Mt. Benson on Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada. Height 3500 feet. Conditions: Cold, lots of freezing rain and lots of snow. There was one visit to the site where we had to dig down from the roof to get at the doors to open them up! Not an easy site to refuel when you have lots of snow and you have to fly in 45 Gal barrels of fuel!!!
Loading the helicopter for a flight to Mt. Digbie ... nearly 10,000 feet The site is just out of Revelstoke, B.C. Canada
Women always like to fly, hey? This is my wife Ann and she loves to help!
Mt. Digbie on left mountain. Flying up the ridge to the site Digbie Site My helper Ann Doesn't Ann look happy we are leaving?
